Happy New Year 2023

Happy New Year!

For me, New Year is both about reflection and ambition.

The first thing that came to mind when reflecting on last year was a team meeting where we each shared our “why,” meaning, “Why did we join the carousel project?

These are some of the responses:

  • I want to connect to the local area and utilize my professional skills by volunteering for a project that is simply about joy.

  • I want to see my professional gifts come to life in a new way, connect to my community, and lay down some roots.

  • I want to connect with my son, a toddler, who will grow up to ride the carousel his dad helped build.

  • I recently returned to the area and hope to find a connection to my artistic roots and home.

In our ways, we are compelled to offer our gifts to our community and this behemoth restoration project. We are also looking for a connection to each other, nature, or home.

We hope to offer those connections to you and believe they are the spirit and heart of joy.

The theme of the Snoqualmie Valley Carousel is "connection."
It will be reflected in the project's art, experience, and soul.

Our mission is to share historic, artistic, or scientific educational opportunities through the restoration and operation of a historic carousel, which includes the promotion of health, community learning, and building connections to self, family, nature, history, and art.

When I think about our future, I am full of ambition & gratitude. We want to thank Snoqualmie Mill Ventures, who has donated a large workspace to us! We also want to thank R&R Rentals, who donated time and equipment to help us move to that new space! We are so fortunate for these incredible local partners! Thank you!

We are hosting monthly work parties at our new site. Please contact us if you are interested in working on the project.

To those of you that have been traveling this journey with us: thank you.

To those of you finding us for the first time, you’re welcome to read about why we became an independent 501c3 in 2022, a bit about our history from a 2021 press release, and how you can adopt menagerie or donate!

Welcome to our world. We hope you will join us.

Leave a legacy,
